Introduction to Sandblasting: A Course on Metal Surface Preparation
Sandblasting is a technique used to clean, smooth, or shape surfaces by propelling an abrasive material at high velocity onto the surface being worked on. This course teaches the skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively operate a sandblaster on metal surfaces.

Equipment and Materials
A media blasting cabinet is a common piece of equipment used for sandblasting metal surfaces. You will learn about the different types of media blasting cabinets and the abrasive materials that can be used, such as aluminum oxide, glass beads, and steel shot.

Safety Precautions
You will learn about the importance of wearing personal protective equipment, proper ventilation, and how to avoid exposure to hazardous dust and fumes.

Preparation and Operation
Before using a media blasting cabinet, it is important to properly prepare the surface. You will learn about the different preparation techniques and how to maintain a consistent distance between the nozzle and the surface being blasted.

Project-Based Learning
Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to work on projects such as removing rust and paint from a metal surface, preparing a surface for painting or powder coating, or creating a textured finish on a metal object.

 

By the end of the course, you will have the skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively operate a media blasting cabinet on metal surfaces.
